Preparation

Important Note

Replacing a GPON module with one that is not provided by your ISP may violate your contract terms. Before making any changes, check the contract terms or contact your provider.

Some ISPs have specific equipment requirements for network connections. Non-compliance may result in warranty voidance, service quality issues, or even contract termination.

Configuration Process

Step 1 – Connecting the GPON Module to the MikroTik Router

  1. Router selection: We use the MikroTik RB5009UPr+S+IN, as it features an SFP+ port, which is required for the Leox module.
  2. Firmware update: RouterOS v7.13.2
  3. Connecting via Telnet: We use Telnet for advanced configuration.

Step 2 – Network Configuration

Change the network address on your computer:

  • IP Address: 192.168.100.20
  • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
  • Router: 192.168.100.1

Step 3 – Logging into the GPON ONT Module WebGui

  1. Open a browser and enter the address: http://192.168.100.1
  2. Login with the following credentials:
    • Username: leox
    • Password: leolabs_7

Step 4 – Configuration via Telnet

After connecting via Telnet (telnet 192.168.100.1), enter the following commands to configure the module for the Greek ISP line:

shell

flash set GPON_SN HWTC1234A6E8 flash set PON_VENDOR_ID HWTC flash set OMCC_VER 136 flash set LAN_SDS_MODE 8 diag gpon get ONU-STATE reboot

Step 5 – Activating the Connection on the MikroTik Router

  1. Remove the bridge from the sfp-sfpplus1 port
  2. Create a VLAN for the Greek ISP
    • VLAN ID: 835
    • Interface: sfp-sfpplus1
  3. Configure PPPoE for internet connection:
    • Username: otenet@paroxos.gr
    • Password: [your password]
